LOCATION.IO

The Location.io Real-Time GNSS service is a real-time data stream that provides GNSS information over an HTTP or FTP transport protocol. This service can easily be customized to deliver a specific mix of assistance data elements based on customer requests, geographical coverage and subscription licensing requirements.

Assistance data elements are provided in a format closely modeled after the 3GPP RRLP or LPP specifications in order to facilitate integration at the partner’s A-GNSS chip/firmware interface.

For those clients who require Real-Time GNSS Ephemeris directly to the devices, we have an easy to integrate Mobile Suite Library which handles all the requesting and processing of the Ephemeris data for injection into the GNSS chipsets.

GPS data is broadcast at a rate of 50bits per second. The time that it takes to download a GPS almanac from the GPS constellation is 12.5 minutes. The time it takes to download a GPS satellite’s ephemeris once it has been tracked is 30 seconds. And these are just two of the many elements in the data that GPS satellites transmit. In applications where a position must be calculated as soon as possible, the amount of time searching for satellites, tracking them and determining a position is the critical measure of success.

When a GNSS receiver is connected to the internet, it can take advantage of the faster connection to download satellite information from Rx Networks instead of the satellites in the sky. Having this data onboard primes the GNSS receiver for a very quick time to first fix once powered on.

Predictions

Location.io is the industry’s most comprehensive and compatible location assistance data platform. It provides optimized GNSS satellite data, Wi-Fi, and cellular ID positioning, together with advanced positioning algorithms, to help devices and networks quickly and accurately resolve mobile positions without the need of additional hardware. Our patented solutions incorporate reference data, embedded software and cloud-based services designed to easily integrate with any location technology, chipsets, or servers.

No matter if you are building a smartphone, deploying a location based platform or anything in between, if you need location data you can leverage Rx Networks’ vast experience of delivering data to billions of devices.

Are you concerned about location accuracy, data traffic or device performance?  Then you need a highly configurable Predicted GNSS solution.  Location.io predicted GNSS ephemeris service is a solution designed to substantially enhance the satellite acquisition performance of virtually any GNSS positioning engine, whether a chipset or next-generation software-GNSS.

We accomplish this by generating extended ephemeris data on the device with a patented approach that supports multiple constellations. GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS data can be injected into the GNSS chipset, thereby avoiding latency issues and higher bandwidth usage inherent in real-time Assisted-GNSS. The net result is improved acquisition time and GNSS sensitivity.

The IoT market is an extremely diverse market, with always connected devices to devices that only connect on a very in-frequent basis.  In a large percentage of use cases, these devices need location.  But the question is about how to assist these devices with such varied requirements.  By taking advantage of our extensive experience in API and service development, Rx Networks is developing an API specific to support these IoT devices and their unique requirements.

StarCourse is the next evolution of the IoT solution.  Predicted GNSS Ephemeris, a version of P-GNSS Ephemeris which will enable device to quickly generate Extended Ephemeris data for up to 31 days into the future.

Our patented lightweight software client enables the smallest of devices to generate their own GNSS assistance data. This solution closely approximates the information typically received via satellite for the device to calculate its position and provides ephemeris for up to 31 days. StarCourse speeds time-to-first-fix, just like regular P-GNSS, and is optimized further for low-power, low-bandwidth, low-memory chipsets.

Designed for applications that need to have a very accurate first fix in the first 24-48 hours along with the prediction longevity of 31 days, StarCourse Premium opens the possibilities even more.  With StarCourse Premium, regular connectivity allows users to experience excellent accuracy in their position with being able to get the up to date predicted ephemeris every day.  When time between being connected increases past 24-48 hours, StarCourse takes over enabling a fast time to first fix.
