NemeriX Licenses Rx Networks’ GPStream™ SAGPS™ Extended Ephemeris Technology

September 15, 2008

Rx Networks Inc. today announced that NemeriX, a leading fabless semiconductor company specializing in ultra low power, high-performance A-GPS solutions for GPS and location-based service (LBS) products, has joined the Rx Networks GPStream Partner Program and licensed GPStream™ SAGPS™, a GPS satellite acquisition acceleration software technology that enhances Time-To-First-Fix (TTFF), helps reduce power consumption and improve usability in marginal signal conditions. Optimized for use in devices with limited or no network connectivity, SAGPS autonomously extends satellite ephemeris data for the next few days from minimal satellite observations. On subsequent start-ups, this enables the chip to bypass the length of time related to initial satellite acquisition.

"GPStream SAGPS is designed for use in connectionless GPS devices such as Personal Navigation Devices (PNDs) and complements perfectly our existing NeX™ Extended Ephemeris technology for connected devices" said Rob Saunders, Director of Product Marketing for NemeriX. "With this technology, NemeriX enhances a feature-rich product portfolio of ultra-low power GPS chipsets, adding accurate, ultra-fast TTFF up to five times faster than conventional competing solutions" he added.

“We welcome NemeriX to our growing ecosystem of GPStream-compatible chipset partners,” said Guylain Roy-MacHabée, President and CEO of Rx Networks. “GPS device manufacturers now have more design flexibility as they can combine the best chipset for their application along with GPStream, the most widely supported extended ephemeris architecture in the industry.”
