Rx Networks Launches Secure User Plane Assisted-GPS Data Service

February 12, 2009

Rx Networks, Inc., a leading Assisted-GPS (A-GPS) technology and global services company, today announced the availability of its GPStream™ Secure User Plane 1.0 Light Edition (SUPL 1.0 LE) data service. The solution enables any SUPL 1.0 A-GPS compliant device to receive real-time GPS assistance and rapidly determine its position even under weak signal conditions. The GPStream SUPL LE service provides cost effective and fast GPS Time-To-First-Fix performance for mobile handset manufacturers, Location-Based Services providers and enterprise customers. Since SUPL LE access is enabled at manufacturing or initial deployment time, the mobile consumer can enjoy a high performance GPS experience right “out of the box.”

“GPStream SUPL LE is a lightweight service designed to simply respond to a terminal’s request for assistance and does away with network initiated features typically found in full-blown SUPL implementations in carrier networks,” said Dave Cayer, Vice President Marketing of Rx Networks. “This means that mobile terminals vendors and service providers can always deliver fast GPS start ups with the highest quality user experience even if mobile operators have not deployed a SUPL service or if their business requires operation across multiple operator networks.”

Rx Networks supports flexible business models and GPStream SUPL LE service can be licensed on a usage or a lifetime subscription basis. For customers seeking an end-to-end SUPL solution, Rx Networks also provides a proven SUPL 1.0 mobile client compatible with most mobile operating systems as part of its GPStream Mobile Suite GPS acceleration solutions.
